Jean Oropallo Qualantone went peacefully home to the Lord on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at the age of 104. She was born on August 23, 1919, to Angelo and Antoinette Palma Oropallo.
Jean was predeceased by her loving husband James and her siblings, Carmine (Julia) Oropallo, Nellie (Fred) Mastroianni, Josephine (Tom) Musto, and Joseph (Virginia) Oropallo.
She is survived by her daughters, Marie (Robert) Palmer and Gloria (William) DeLucia along with grandsons, Robert (Katy) Palmer, David (Jennie) Palmer, Nick (Michelle) DeLucia, Billy (Blythe) DeLucia, and 12 great-grandchildren: Luke, Ben, Jackson, Lyle and Grace Palmer, and Vincent, Nick, Ellyse, Michael, Brooklyn, John and Joey DeLucia. She is also survived by her loving niece Carol (Ted) Obloy along with several nieces and nephews.
She was happiest cooking and baking for family and friends who especially looked forward to enjoying her home-made cookies. Her home was always open to share a home-cooked meal. As a fun-loving grandmother, she delighted in playing Po-ke-no and card games with her grandchildren.
She was a life long communicate of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and a member of the Mt. Carmel Women’s Society.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Eddy Daybreak Program of Cohoes for years of loving care, and the staff of Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care in her final years. Special thanks to her home health aide Anita who became a dear friend and advocate.
Calling hours will he held on Wednesday, January 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the DeLegge Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, February 1, at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant Street, Schenectady.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
